What role does AAM play in GF-5?

The Alliance of Automobile Manufacturers (AAM) represents American manufacturers of passenger cars and light trucks with gasoline engine. AAM is the major participant in ILSAC and ILSAC /OIL. This organization makes requests for new engine oil performance standards on behalf of American OEMs through ILSAC. These requests are made to ILSAC/OIL and API often in response to new government regulations.
