Fluid developers get a trial run

Before the GF-5 specification is finalized and implemented, fluid developers are given a period of six months to try their different formulating approaches using the final test procedures.  This step, called Technology Demonstration, is the last checkpoint before the specification limits are finalized.

The experience gained during this period allows fluid developers to speak authoritatively about how well the test works and influence the test limits.  Although unlikely, the outcome of the Technology Demonstration may uncover some items that were overlooked in the process. This data is communicated to the ILSAC/OIL group for review and is used to set the final ILSAC GF-5 test limits.

Technology demonstration and final limits process is targeted for completion mid-year 2009.
