API First License Date   3Q 2010

The American Petroleum Institute says, "Go to market."

The third quarter of 2010 is the end-date the entire industry is waiting for.  At this time, oil marketers, who have filed for and obtained their API GF-5 License, can display the API starburst signifying their oil as API licensed and certified. GF-5 specified motor oils will hit the marketplace after years in development.  Anticipating the introduction of the Model Year 2011 cars, the actual API fist license date is expected for sometime in July 2010.
