Turkish Study Finds Reduction of CO Emissions and Improved Thermal Efficiency Result from Biodiesel Blended with Marine Fuel

A study at Sakarya University and Kocaeli University in Turkey has found that blending biodiesel with marine fuel can improve the brake thermal efficiency (BTE) of a diesel engine and reduce CO emissions. Use of biodiesel increased NOx emissions and slightly increased CO2 emissions, although there was also an increase in fuel consumption. A paper on the work was published online on December 24th in the ACS journal Energy & Fuels.  For more information on this study, click here.
