Rules for Fuel Conversion Systems Updated

U.S. EPA has revised its rules dealing with fuel conversion systems that allow vehicles to run on alternative fuels.  EPA has attempted to streamline the process by which manufacturers of clean alternative conversion systems may demonstrate compliance with vehicle and engine emission requirements.  EPA’s approach now treats conversions differently based on the age of the vehicle or the engine being converted, such that testing and compliance procedures are based on whether a vehicle or engine is new, intermediate age, or outside its expected useful life.
