G-8 Leaders Agree to Reduce GHG Emissions
G-8 leaders, including President Bush, agreed to reduce GHG
emissions by 50% before 2050. This non-binding agreement lays the
groundwork for further negotiation of a UN Treaty on Climate Change to
be held in Copenhagen in 2009. Although environmental groups argue
that this is not a large enough effort, others are applauding the fact
that President Bush has taken steps to commit the US to emissions
reductions.
