On Thursday November 19th ILSAC/OIL came to an agreement on the Draft Specification of the ILSAC GF-5 Standard for Passenger Car Engine Oils. You can review the updated document here: ILSAC GF-5 draft Nov 19 09.pdf
The API Lubricants Committee subsequently issued a ballot to its members to accept the November 19th Draft Specification for licensing using the API Certification Mark (identified by the “Starburst”).
The ballot is also distributed to the wider lubricants community for comments: 111909ballot.pdf. Ballot closes December 19, 2009.
If this draft specification is approved on December 19th, first licensing is likely October 1, 2010.
API continues work on the companion API SN specification.
