Summary Report ASTM PCEOCP VID Matrix Design and Funding (MDF) Subgroup Meeting
06/05/2008
A meeting of the ASTM PCEOCP VID Matrix Design and Funding (MDF) Subgroup was held via teleconference on June 5, 2008. The Subgroup recommends to the ASTM PCEOCP Committee how the Precision Matrix for the Sequence VID fuel economy test should be run and how the costs are shared. The results of the teleconference are summarized below:
1. The design of the Precision Matrix was discussed. A selection of possible matrices were put together by industry statisticians and the table was discussed during the teleconference

As an example, the Subgroup talked about Option 3 using 5 oils. Of the 5 oils, those which could become reference oils would need at least 6 runs and other oils would have a minimum of 4 runs.
2. The number of test laboratories and test stands for the Precision Matrix was discussed. No conclusions were made at this time. Further discussion is required.
3. Possible oils for the Precision Matrix were also discussed which included
• Two OEM Factory Fill or Calibration Oils - requires GF-4 support data
• A GF-5 Demonstration Oil, requested by the PCEOCP by letter - requires GF-4 support data
• TMC 538 Sequence VIB Reference Oil
• Any of the current Sequence VID Consortium Oils
