Summary Report ASTM PCEOCP Meeting06/17/2008 A meeting of the ASTM PCEOCP was held on June 17, 2008. A summary is presented below. Most tests appear in good shape for GF-4and GF-5 with respect to parts and calibration. The Sequence VIII has selected a set of bearings to replace the previous set that was beginning to show deterioration. ILSAC/OIL Chairman Bob Olree identified the biggest remaining issues for GF-5 as The ESCIT group will ballot acceptance of the Sequence IIIGB Phosphorous Retention Test including using the "zero hour sample" for initial phosphorous and ICP improvements and then direct the Surveillance Panel to change the IIIG procedure to accommodate the IIIGB. Chairman Linden reported the VID Consortium background data leading up to the Prove-out matrix is now in the public domain and can be discussed. Click here for the 87 page report. The Sequence VID Prove-out matrix (Matrix V) is anticipated to be completed by end of August. The Matrix V will complete the planned Sequence VID Consortium testing. A Prove-out matrix is used to determine when a test is in its final version and laboratories are capable of running the test and obtaining predictable results. It is likely that the next meeting of the PCEOCP will be held in early September to determine if the Sequence VID test is fit for purpose. |
