ILSAC/Oil Meeting Summary

Both ILSAC and OIL agree on the ILSAC GF-5 Needs Statement, as of the January 23, 2008 ILSAC/OIL meeting. The Needs Statement includes:
- Improvements in fuel economy and fuel economy retention using the Sequence VID engine test;
- Protection of emission control systems as per the Sequence IIIG engine test
- Engine oil robustness.
ILSAC recognized that OIL accepts the Sequence VID for fuel economy, the Sequence IIIG @ 100 hours for emissions system compatibility and the Chrysler emulsion procedure for E85 fuel protection
The GF-5 Precision Matrix for the Sequence VID for fuel economy will possibly start in 2Q 2008.
The timeline of first licensing of GF-5 oils remains as July, 2010.
The ROBO Test for used oil pumpability is in the process of being written in ASTM format.
